Dear Fellow Believer in Christ:
Greetings in the name of our Lord! We pray that you are in good health and that God is with you daily!
Psalms 103:13 13 As a father has compassion on his children, so the LORD has compassion on those who fear him;
| "Fathers who answered the Call of God to be Missionaries"
Matthew 28:19-20 King James Version (KJV) 19 Go ye therefore, and teach all nations, baptizing them in the name of the Father, and of the Son, and of the Holy Ghost: 20 Teaching them to observe all things whatsoever I have commanded you: and, lo, I am with you always, even unto the end of the world. Amen. Bonnie Lou and I have had the privilege to be Ohana (family) to so many missionaries and have supported them with our prayers, love and financially, both personally and with love gifts from the people in our churches we served In Minnesota, Arkansas, and over the past 50 years here in Hawaii. I also had the privilege to help many minister in our churches here in Hawaii as the District Assistant Superintendent for 24 years so that they could deliver their missionary message to our people here in Hawaii. The first missionary I want to tell you about is Nick Wilson. Nick has gone on to be with Jesus in heaven, but let me share with you a small portion of the story of his life. After graduating from high school, he served in the armed forces network in France. After returning home to Hawaii, he went to college where he met his soon-to-be wife and got married at Prince of Peace Lutheran Church in Waikiki. He was then chosen to receive a Fulbright Scholarship to study music and opera. This took them to Germany and France. During this time. Nick committed his life to Jesus and wanted to serve Him. After the Fulbright year, He taught voice at Elim Bible Institute in Lima, New York. He then served as Minister of Music at Assembly of God churches in Danbury, Connecticut, Worcester, Massachusetts, and Garland, Texas. In 1980, Nick and Ruth began their missions career. They served in West Germany with Eurasia Teen Challenge, in Austria with university ministries, and in Texas and Missouri with International Correspondence Institute/Global University. In 1998, Nick earned a Master's Degree in Library and Information Science and served as head librarian for ICI/Global and then Cape Theological Seminary in Cape Town, South Africa. He was at the ministry of Network211 in Springfield, Missouri, when he was invited to fill the need for a head librarian for Asia Pacific Theological Seminary in Baguio City, Philippines in 2009. What a journey they had together, and I wished I had space to tell you of Nick's opera life and how it fit into his missionary journey. But what a father he was, not only to his boys, but to all that was touched by his life. Both Nick and Ruth determined to follow our Lord and Savior. Nick could have used his voice and become a big opera star, but instead, used his God-given talents and dedicated his life in the ministry for Jesus! God has chosen several of the Ashpole men to become pastors or missionaries.
My older brother, Floyd and his wife, Jane, were pastors in Arkansas and Mississippi for many years and then went on to be missionaries to the islands of Samoa, and also to islands in the Pacific. They served in South Korea for many years. Bonnie Lou and I have ministered here in Hawaii for over 50 years and also preached in American and Western Samoa and at the District Council World Conference and have preached wherever the Lord has taken us. My brother Dan with his wife Maryanne are pastoring in a Assembly of God church in Pine Island, Minnesota. My oldest son Bryan and Shirley, pastor in Honolulu Assembly and my youngest son Brent and Bobbie who have three beautiful children, are Children's Pastors in DE Pere, Wisconsin. Thank you Lord, for blessing the Ashpole family with men that have a heart after God to preach the gospel and win souls to Christ! Happy Father's Day to fathers, young and old. Pray for your children that they too will love the Lord with all their hearts! Now for you Fathers. Make Jesus your personal Savior. All you have to do is invite Him into your heart and receive Jesus as your Lord and Savior for if you say No, I will not see you in Heaven. Make the YES choice as a great FATHER!
Pastor Bill Ashpole | | Please note: As you may know, my wife Bonnie Lou has now been in heaven for the past plus nine months, but her memory is still fresh in my heart and head. I had 67 wonderful years with her here on this earth. Being a father, myself, I am now enjoying having family living with me. My daughter Brenda came home to take care of Bonnie Lou over two years ago and Brenda will be with me when we take her urn to the Alden Cemetery. Please join me on July 15, 2018, where I will minister at our home church at Wells Assembly of God Church Sunday morning. We will go to the gravesite at around 3 P.M.. where we will place Bonnie Lou's urn. We appreciate your kind thoughts and prayers during our time of deep sorrow.
