Luke 2:8 And there were in the same country shepherds abiding in the field, keeping watch over their flock by night. Luk 2:9 And, lo, the angel of the Lord came upon them, and the glory of the Lord shone round about them: and they were sore afraid. Luk 2:10 And the angel said unto them, Fear not: for, behold, I bring you good tidings of great joy, which shall be to all people. Luk 2:11 For unto you is born this day in the city of David a Saviour, which is Christ the Lord. Luk 2:12 And this shall be a sign unto you; Ye shall find the babe wrapped in swaddling clothes, lying in a manger. Luk 2:13 And suddenly there was with the angel a multitude of the heavenly host praising God, and saying, Luk 2:14 Glory to God in the highest, and on earth peace, good will toward men. Luk 2:15 And it came to pass, as the angels were gone away from them into heaven, the shepherds said one to another, Let us now go even unto Bethlehem, and see this thing which is come to pass, which the Lord hath made known unto us. Luk 2:16 And they came with haste, and found Mary, and Joseph, and the babe lying in a manger In the midst of our daily routines, duties, trials. situations, sickness and heaviness, remember that the presence of our Lord is always with us. He is there to bring us good news, especially when we are tired, discouraged and out of it. In verse Luke 2:8 - 9. The Shepherds were not expecting this at all during the night when the glory of the Lord appeared all around them with good news. It states in verse 10: "I bring you good tiding of great Joy. What greater Joy than this, that a Saviour is born!" Whenever you are disturbed, or whatever the situation is, we need to hear our Lord's words that we are not to fear, and as the Angels said, "We have very good news for you, our Saviour is here to give us faith and hope!" Our hope is in Jesus Christ our Lord. Let me give you one miraculous situation that Bonnie Lou and I went through. On the Island of Kauai, there was a criminal that did not like us. He was very angry because his wife and a girlfriend attended a Sunday morning service and both gave their hearts to the Lord. It was so bad that the police gave us 24 hour protection for many years. One night, around midnight, this man came to our home to kill us. (The reason that we knew that he was there is that we has a family from our church call is around midnight that this man had called them that he was going to kill them. I told them not to be afraid because he was not after them but after me.) I heard a noise outside our bedroom window, so I called the police. A young police officer answered the phone. " Hello," I said, "we need help, that man is here to kill us!" He said, if he is not in your house, we cannot do anything, so I hung up the phone. I thought Bonnie Lou was sound asleep, but she sat straight up in bed, praying in a language that I did not understand. Barrels of rain began to fall from the sky, then a hundred dogs appeared out of nowhere and chased the man to his car! When he slammed the door of his car, I heard police sirens. I ran from our bedroom and looked out of the living room window. There, I saw all those dogs and the police car that stopped him. There is a leash law in Hawaii so how could there be so many dogs? I truly believe that those dogs were angels sent by God to protect us. I called the police station the next morning and they wanted to know if I would press charges against him and I said no. The policeman said, "but we took a revolver from him." I replied, "give him his gun back and tell him to go home". The police officer said but he might use it on you and I said, he will not hurt me. He has seen all that happened and he knows that it was supernatural." He never bothered us after that. I did not hear the singing of angels but we did feel his peace, and joy! As I mentioned, this all happened after his wife gave her life to the Lord. She became our Christian Education Director for our church until we left Kauai after eleven or so years. This couple eventually divorced and she became part of our ohana (family) and is our Hawaiian daughter. The man developed cancer and she graciously took care of him and before he died, she told us that he gave his heart to God. Praise the Lord! God continues to do miraculous things for us. Thank you for praying for Bonnie Lou. She was in the hospital for 12 days and almost died from pneumonia. The Lord delivered her and she was released from the hospital and is at home doing better.. The doctor would not put the stent into her heart because of the condition of her valve, and yet, she is up and about, pushing her walker again. Praise the Lord. Jesus still does perform MIRACLES! Feeding the spirit, feeding the body ~ Enjoy this month's recipe: HOT SPINACH AND ARTICHOKE DIP  Ingredients
1 cup thawed, chopped frozen spinach 1 1/2 cups thawed, chopped frozen artichoke hearts 1/2 teaspoon red pepper flakes 1/4 teaspoon garlic powder Boil spinach and artichokes in 1 cup of water until tender and drain. Discard liquid. Heat cream cheese in microwave for 1 minute or until hot and soft. Stir in rest of ingredients and serve hot. |
